For Parents

Youth Pathways is a voluntary in-school program for middle and high school students dedicated to empowering adolescents through positive adult role models, career and college exploration.  Youth Pathways is an enrichment program that meets once a week during regular school hours.  There is no homework, no grades, and no course credit attached to the program.  This program is entirely free for your student.

During the year, we feature numerous activities for your student.  Guest speakers talk about their various professional careers.  Different classroom activities develop your student’s knowledge.  The highlight of Youth Pathways, however, is field trips to various locations in the Austin community.  Examples of field trips include:

  • University of Texas campus
  • St. Edward's University campus
  • Texas Capitol
  • Downtown Optimist Club luncheon
  • Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum
  • Harry Ransom Center
  • Austin Police Academy
  • Austin Museum of Art

All trips are taken during regular school hours with transportation provided.  There is no charge to students for the field trips.  Parents are always invited and encouraged to attend field trips.
